Hi, I’m Shelby—the heart behind Denali K-9.

My path into dog training wasn’t a straight line. I spent years working in shelters and kennels, where I saw how many amazing dogs were struggling—not because they were “bad,” but because no one had ever taught them how to succeed, learn, or truly try to understand them. That experience lit a fire in me and sparked my passion for training and behavior.

I went on to earn my degree from Texas State University in Biology with focuses in Biology, Animal Science, and Psychology, and later became certified in Canine Training and Behavior through one of the top programs in the country—Starmark Academy. But honestly, my greatest teachers have been the dogs themselves.

My personal rescue dog, Zuko, came to me with his own behavioral challenges—struggling with reactivity, anxiety, and a whole lot of energy. He pushed me, taught me patience, and reminded me every single day why I do this work. He is not just my companion; he’s living proof of what’s possible with clarity, consistency, and understanding.

I bring structure and direction, yes, but I lead first with love.
